PCA meetings with RICS

Notes of meetings held in May and June 2025.

The PCA met with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) recently to discuss mutual areas of interest.  

  • This included the publication of RICS UK professional standard - Valuation of licenced leisure property 2nd edition (including public houses) which is effective from 1 July 2025, RICS guidance as relevant to the Pubs Code and supporting tied tenants to find independent professional advisers.  
  • We also met with the head of RICS dispute resolution service to discuss the operation of the panel of independent assessors for the purpose of MRO market rent determinations. 
  • Separately, the PCA also met members of the panel of Independent Assessors, who can be appointed when the tenant is unable to reach agreement with their pub company on the rent payable for the MRO tenancy. We discussed the Criteria for appointment and themes arising from appointments.
